Internship Program in Angkor Finishes

The internship program at the Authority for Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap, Kingdom of Cambodia, one of our international partner institutions (University-Level), was conducted from August 21 to September 1. This year, the eighth time, 10 students including 7 students from the College of Human and Social Sciences, 1 student from the College of Science and Engineering and 2 students from Komatsu College participate in the program.

First, the staff of the authority explained about their tasks, such as the preservation of natural environment of Angkor World Heritage Site, the health management of the local residents, the protection of cultural properties and the attraction of tourists. Then, the participants were divided into 4 groups and participated in the actual work including water resource management. They visited a reservoir and a water gate built to control the water supply, and checked the reconsidered tourist route and the expanded parking area in response to the growing number of tourists.

Through this internship, they deepened their understanding about the importance of the management of World Heritage Sites and completed their fruitful experience abroad.
